I recently had the privilege of being a guest on Dr Jeff Cornwall's show the Entrepreneurial Mind. We discussed Arciplex LLC my new company and how it has evolved so much over the last few years. We also got to talk about my recent epiphany about corporate culture and how it really changed the way I look at my business every day. A big thanks to Dr. C for having me on.

Arcifit Challenge
Research has shown that your physical and mental health may be fundamentally connected. “Good nutrition in all its forms—from food and sleep to exercise and daylight—will help our mind-body system thrive profoundly,” writes therapist Nick Baylis in his book The Rough Guide to Happiness. Arcifit supports morale, collaboration and teamwork. Being enrolled in Arcifit is like being on a team. Each teammate is rooting for your success and sharing strategies and tips to help you reach your fitness goals. I'm proud to work at a company like Arciplex that prioritizes wellness and employee health.
To learn more about the Arcifit Challenge and the ways that Arciplex is taking employee wellness seriously check this post out. http://tomhaarlander.wordpress.com/2014/07/01/the-arcifit-challenge/

A Day In The life Of An Entrepreneur
I often get asked what it's like being an entrepreneur and not having a "boss." People seem to think that running a business means taking days off whenever you want and showing up to work later then everyone else. Maybe it's like that for some people that certainly has never been my experience. For me it's usually meant more stress, fewer days off, longer hours and it's not even always glory fame and riches waiting at the end of the road. That being said, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Here is a fun look at a day in the life that a student at Belmont interviewed me for.
Hope you enjoy.

I Work With Talented Friends
I work with very talented individuals and I'm blessed to also call them friends. I wanted to take a minute and share my good friend Mike's site. Mike is our in house design and branding genius. He can take ordinary brands and make them extraordinary.

Corporate Fitness Challenges
I've been doing a lot of reading lately on corporate fitness plans. Personally I've been really trying to get myself into a consistent workout routine and I think it will be huge for my whole company. Not only can a fitness plan serve as a moral booster and team builder, but I think it can strengthen leaders and also deepen relationships. Being vulnerable in a workout group and sharing weaknesses while encouraging each other builds trust and healthy working relationships. Stay tuned to see what we come up with at Arciplex, but in the meantime here's some programs that I've been considering.

I love dreaming up new business idea's. I've definitely got my hands full with the work i'm currently doing, but there is something refreshing about getting out side of the box and letting your mind explore and work through ideas. This list really got me thinking about some fun ideas.

Customer Development
Reading is one of the most important things that you can do as an entrepreneur. I try to stay current by not only reading books, but also by keeping up with some of the great minds in the industry. Two of my favorite thought leaders in the entrepreneurship world are Steve Blank & Jeff Cornwall.

Incredible Christmas Lights
Living in a high rise means that i'm not able to go out and string lights across my roof, like I'd like to, but living in a festive city like Nashville means there's plenty of holiday spirit to go around. One of my top Christmas stops in Nashville is Sunny Side neighborhood. If you've never been by then it's a holiday tradition that you should start this year. Check out their Facebook page here. I love this light display because it's not only an incredible display of lights, but there is an incredible story behind the display. You'll have to visit yourself to find out what I mean.

Dealing With A Work Life Balance
Previously, I posted a blog article: What was the most valuable lesson learned while doing business and college? and my response was to find a Work/Life balance. That article got me thinking how do I personally deal with a work life balance now that I am out of school? In such a fast pace, connected world where I am working globally and traveling globally it’s hard sometimes to find that set balance. With so much going on at all times around the globe, I could theoretically work 24/7 with all that’s going on, and to be honest sometimes that’s what happens. Luckily for me I have surrounded myself by people who understand what it means to be an Entrepreneur trying to build something. Richard Branson has said ” If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.” And also "Time is how you spend your love, if you love what you do, separation of work & play disappears.” I truly connect with that because I absolutely love what I do and the people I do it with.

A Little Bit About Me
While many
people enjoy the competitive nature of sporting events, Tom Haarlander enjoys
the lessons that these games provide for businessmen and women. Throughout his
life, Tom has been extremely active and health-focused, taking part in fitness
events such as marathons, triathlons, and football. In fact, Tom would even most
to Eastern Michigan to pursue an opportunity in competitive hockey.
For Tom, these
sports weren’t just a way to stay physically active and healthy, but were also
incredible lessons in the realm of entrepreneurship. From persistence to
teamwork, Tom harnessed characteristics that would distinguish him as an
entrepreneur at an early age. A high threshold for failure and consistent
demands for success are what have defined Tom Haarlander’s successful ventures.
As an
entrepreneur in the wellness industry, Tom’s background in sports provides
legitimacy and understanding as he passionately works to help others achieve
their optimal level of fitness and well-being. Tom is a graduate of BelmontUniversity in Nashville, TN, where he has been repeatedly acknowledged and
awarded for his business endeavors, which reached revenues of multiple millions during
his undergraduate years.

Music City Marathon
Here are some recent pictures from the Music City Marathon that Shannon and I participated in back in April. It was a great race raising money for a great cause. Love Nashville and events like this.
